An ICE shooting in the Bronx, a Jerusalem conference panel on antisemitism charges and a debate attack on Abdul El-Sayed’s donors lead 24 narratives

We scored 24 camp-versus-camp narratives across 19 fault lines for the window of October 5 to October 11, 2026, and three reach the top watch tier. After an ICE officer shot a man in a car in the Bronx on 8 October, Mayor Mamdani, Rep. Ro Khanna and the ACLU read the shooting as proof that the agency is violent by nature and has to be abolished; that frame carries an accelerating trajectory multiplier of 1.3, and its score reaches the 5.0 cap. America First speakers at the National Conservatism conference in Jerusalem cast the neoconservative wing’s antisemitism charges as a bid to take the party back from Trump’s heirs, a frame that stands at 4.6 with the same multiplier. The Republican nominee’s charge at Michigan’s first Senate debate that Abdul El-Sayed takes money from open supporters of Hamas, Hezbollah and al-Qaeda stands at 4.2. Twenty-three verdicts came back mixed, one reads core unsubstantiated by our checks, and none is contradicted. Eight narratives read as ignited, one sits at near ignition, 14 sit at warming and one is cold.

Everything on this dashboard is ordinary political expression under this instrument, with one exception this window: items inside eight narratives cleared our harm bar, were routed to the harm instrument and are reported only there, and what remains on those cards did not clear our harm gate. A narrative appearing here describes a framing pattern. Our separate harm methodology, with its own much higher bar, is reported in The Weather Report.

What this is

This report measures selected framing contests that sit below the harm line

Our weekly harm report measures the narrow band of content that collectivizes, dehumanizes or incites against groups of people. Most of the culture war stays below that bar. This report measures selected framing contests within the material below the bar in the same week, under the same verification standard, with a second instrument.

We track framing contests. An event happens, and within hours commentators on each side move from arguing about the event to arguing about what it reveals of the other camp’s motives and character. We state each narrative’s claim in a testable form, check how the predictions it generates fare against what is observable, look for the mirror narrative on the other side, and score the whole contest for reach, intensity, penetration, elite adoption and mirror lock. We also watch each narrative for seven markers that it is drifting toward the territory our harm methodology covers.

The queue

Three narratives reach the top watch tier, led by the reading of ICE as a rogue agency after a shooting in the Bronx

Our scan of the window recorded 23 trigger events across seven arenas: nine in the United States, five each in Britain and across borders, and one each in Canada, France, Germany and Spain. Six items on the prior window’s watchlist show no new step inside this one. Three narratives reached the top watch tier among the cards we scored. The rogue-agency frame on ICE stands at 5.0: after an ICE officer shot a man in a car with a child inside in the Bronx on 8 October, Mayor Mamdani told a press conference “We know that ICE is rotten to its core”, the ACLU called it a “rogue agency”, and with Rep. Ro Khanna they read the shooting as proof that the agency is violent by nature and has to be abolished. A trajectory multiplier of 1.3 carries its score to the cap. The America First frame on the neoconservative wing stands at 4.6, also with a multiplier of 1.3: on the National Conservatism conference stage in Jerusalem on 7 October, William Wolfe said the “antisemite hunting issue is being used to actually try and give the Neocons power back again after a Trump era”, and Mike Cernovich and Auron MacIntyre carried the reading on X. The El-Sayed association frame stands at 4.2: at the first debate of Michigan’s Senate race, in Grand Rapids on 8 October, the Republican nominee Mike Rogers said that Abdul El-Sayed “gets money from people who support, openly, Hamas, Hezbollah, al-Qaeda” and did not answer when asked repeatedly afterwards for evidence, the Republican Jewish Coalition read his silence on the anniversary of 7 October, his donors and his family as proof that he is “dangerous for America”, Brigitte Gabriel carried the frame to his relatives, and Laura Loomer and Mark Levin carried it on X. The active tier, W2, holds 17 cards, and W3 holds four, with none at W4. Two cards stand highest in the active tier at 3.7. One is the cruelty frame on the plan to livestream the Fort Hood gunman’s execution. The other is the frame on the Green Party of England and Wales’s conference vote of 4 October defining Zionism as racism, which reads the vote as proof that the party is run by people hostile to Jewish people: Israel’s foreign ministry, barring the party’s leader Zack Polanski from Israel, wrote that the party had adopted “not only the green of Hamas, but also its ideology”, President Isaac Herzog said the motion would “deliberately endanger Jews and Israelis everywhere”, and Mark Levin, David Vance and Hen Mazzig carried the reading on X. Five cards sit at 3.5. Three ignited cards are listed at W2 while their computed scores sit below that band, and the ignition section below names them. Three cards carry a boundary mark, and on each of them the one-step move the mark names would carry the score across the edge.

Seventeen cards play out in the United States arena, one in France, two in Britain and four across borders: the cockpit attack on Flydubai flight FZ1073 to Tel Aviv, the third anniversary of 7 October, which carries two cards, and a lab worker’s death at a plague research institute in Siberia. Eight fall in foreign policy, four each in education and culture and in immigration, three in technology, two each in culture and entertainment and in the general sweep, and one in public health. Officials or major outlets carried the claim as their own on 14 cards, the top elite-adoption anchor: the Republican Senate nominee in Michigan on El-Sayed’s donors; a senator, a House member and the candidate himself on the attacks as aimed at his faith; New York City’s mayor and a House member on ICE as a rogue agency; the Department of Homeland Security and its secretary on sanctuary politicians; the Senate Republican Conference, the Senate’s second-ranking Republican and the vice president on open borders; France’s prime minister on France Unbowed; a senator and the House Democratic leader on the cost of the Iran war; a senator and a House member on the president’s diesel deal with Russia; a House member on Democrats and the genocide label; Israel’s foreign ministry and its president on the Green Party’s vote; the head of the Anti-Defamation League, Israel’s ambassador to the UN and AIPAC on the New York mayor’s anniversary statement; Pennsylvania’s governor and a national magazine on the Fort Hood livestream; an under secretary of war and Fox News Digital on opposition to data centers; and the Senate Republican Conference on the ratepayer vote. The count covers the 24 cards we scored.

The predictions are our own operationalizations of each frame, and reasonable readers may formulate different checks. Twenty-three of the 24 verdicts came back mixed, and one reads core unsubstantiated by our checks. No card is contradicted by our checks in this window. Contradicted and core unsubstantiated carry different weight against a frame. Contradicted means a probative check reached the claim’s core proposition, the load-bearing thing the frame asserts, and failed against what is observable, and no probative check on the core or the narrow reading came back true or mixed. Core unsubstantiated means no probative check reaches that core proposition in either direction: a reader learns what we looked for and did not find, and our record neither carries the claim nor tells against it, a weaker result than disproved. The card that reads core unsubstantiated is the false-flag frame on the Flydubai attack, whose core proposition is that Israel’s government staged or steered the cockpit attack on the flight to Tel Aviv. Reports inside the window, citing Israeli officials and the United Arab Emirates, say the co-pilot meant to crash the aircraft into Ben Gurion airport, likely acted alone and told investigators he was inspired by the attacks of 11 September 2001, and nothing we found links Israel’s government to the attack. Those findings rest on the attacker’s own account and on officials’ early assessments, which a reading in which someone steered him would also predict, so the claim stays unsubstantiated on what we found. A card reads mixed where at least one probative check on its narrow reading came back true or mixed on independent evidence, and three things add no such support: a narrow reading we did not test or could not resolve, material produced by the frame’s own carrier unless its underlying evidence was separately verified, and political adoption of the claim such as a resolution, a vote or an endorsement, which shows a claim entering the mainstream. A mixed verdict on a compound claim substantiates none of its clauses on its own, and most of this window’s mixed cards split along the same seam: a documented kernel and an imputed motive that no independent check reaches. On the open-borders frame, the narrow reading holds on the Democratic Socialists’ published program and on the abolition calls of a mayor and a House member, and the party-wide reading fails where we could check it, on what the Democratic leaders in both chambers asked of ICE. On the frame in which Rep. Ro Khanna and Cenk Uygur read Democrats as afraid to call Israel’s war in Gaza a genocide, the narrow reading holds on the record, since a prospective presidential candidate declined the word this spring and the mayor of New York drew rebukes for using it in the window, and why other Democrats decline it is a question about minds that nothing independent reaches. Confidence stands at moderate on 19 cards and low on five.

Twenty-two cards record a mirror that answered and two record a locked pair. A lock means each side runs on the other’s statements as its primary evidence. The locked pair is the fight inside the right that ran through the Jerusalem conference: the America First speakers answered the neoconservative wing’s antisemitism charges in their own speeches, and James Lindsay, Laura Loomer and Mark Levin, who cast the New Right around Tucker Carlson as a subversive bloc, ran their frame on those speeches. The plague-mRNA playbook frame drew an answer on the merits of the case: the WHO rated the risk outside Russia as very low and the CDC said it was monitoring it, and no answering item engages the claim that the architects of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout are staging the next pandemic. Four arenas produced a carded narrative on each side: the El-Sayed race, the Bronx shooting, the Jerusalem conference with its locked pair, and the third anniversary of 7 October. The El-Sayed race produced the association frame and the Democratic reading of the attacks on him as aimed at his faith, and the ignition section below sets out how that pair meets the harm instrument. The ICE shooting in the Bronx on 8 October produced the rogue-agency frame, in which Mayor Mamdani, Rep. Ro Khanna and the ACLU read the shooting as proof that the agency is violent by nature and has to be abolished, and the Department of Homeland Security’s frame, in which Secretary Markwayne Mullin casts the mayor and sanctuary politicians as shielding criminals and stirring hostility toward its officers. The open-borders frame records the rogue-agency frame as its mirror as well, since its abolition clause runs on the same calls. The anniversary produced the frame in which Hen Mazzig and HonestReporting Canada read the Free Palestine movement as a hate mob, and the antizionist frame in which Jackson Hinkle and Sneako say Netanyahu’s government knew of the attack and let it happen; the hate-mob card is also the recorded mirror of the false-flag frame on the Flydubai attack. Coordination is a separate verdict on every card, and every card reads no coordination identified: our record holds no linkage between their carriers beyond shared timing, no bridge account, no phrasing copied from one account to another, no named hub and no funder we could identify. This instrument records convergence on one story within hours as shared timing.

Three cards carry a trajectory multiplier this week. The rogue-agency frame on ICE reads accelerating: its share of the collected corpus moved 21 percent above the field, and its multiplier of 1.3 carries its score to the 5.0 cap. The America First frame on the neoconservative wing reads accelerating as well, at 15 percent above the field, and its multiplier of 1.3 gives 4.6. The woke-right frame on the faction around Tucker Carlson reads decaying, at 34 percent below the field, and its multiplier of 0.6 gives 2.4. Each of the three readings rests on nine comparable observation windows and carries high confidence. The other 21 cards hold 1.0, because their volume queries matched too few posts in one of the two windows to compute a rate: eleven matched nothing in the earlier window, and ten matched fewer than five posts in one of the two. Each of their published scores is its base score on five factors.

Ignition watch

Eight narratives read as ignited, and one sits at near ignition

Our harm methodology’s gates run first on every item, and in this window items inside eight carded narratives cleared them and set those cards’ status. A cleared item sets a card’s status only where its hostile content carries the card’s own claim or falls on the card’s own target, and where the item names the card’s trigger or its target in its own words, so an item that mentions a card’s target in one clause while its hostile content falls on someone else stays on the harm side and the card reads on its markers. An item that carries a card’s claim with a protected group put in the place of the actor the card accuses carries the card’s own claim: that substitution is how a frame between camps crosses our harm bar. The El-Sayed association frame is ignited on President Trump’s Truth Social posts of 6 and 7 October, which apply a jihad label to the candidate and, in the second, call him by a misspelling of his middle name and declare his values foreign to Michiganders and to the country; both cleared our harm bar, the first at the stigmatizing rung and the second at the hateful rung. The faux-concern frame on Mayor Mamdani is ignited on a Laura Loomer post of 11 October that calls the mayor “a lying Muslim who should be denaturalized”; it cleared at the hateful rung, and its hostile content falls on him as a Muslim official as well as on Muslim people. The open-borders frame is ignited on a Mike Cernovich post of 7 October that names Democrats as the funders and promoters of “demographic replacement”, casting immigrants as a replacement population. The false-flag frame on the Flydubai attack is ignited on a Bluesky post from the same week, which calls the attack staged and moves the blame for it from Israel’s government to a Jewish film producer it labels by religion, which places the item in the harm side’s hidden-control script, and on a post by The Dollar Vigilante of 8 October that calls the attack a psyop by a “Global Production Company” and marks its stagers as Jewish. Both carry the card’s staging claim with Jewish people put in the place of the government the card accuses. The Israeli-moles frame on the embassy report is ignited on a Cenk Uygur post of 8 October that names the report and casts US officials as a secret workforce for Israel: “I can prove to you that Israel completely controls our country.” The woke-right frame is ignited on a James Lindsay post of 5 October that proposes turning a child-abuse label on the faction’s figures, and the plague-mRNA playbook frame on a board thread of 6 October that names the Russian lab and casts Jewish people as the architects of a plague released in the West and a vaccine then forced on the public. Both cleared at the stigmatizing rung, as did the open-borders, Flydubai and embassy items. The frame in which Netanyahu’s government knew of the attack of 7 October and let it happen is ignited on an anonymous board post of the anniversary that carries that claim in its own words and laughs at the Jewish people killed and taken hostage that day, calling them by a slur; it cleared at the glorifying-violence rung. The routing rule is one rule: an item that clears the harm bar is scored and reported only on the harm side, it sets a narrative’s ignition status only under the two tests above and is recorded on that card as its handoff reference, and it never counts here as a below-bar example or as evidence for the charge priority score. The card keeps the framing contest and the below-bar remainder, and the harm instrument keeps the harm. Three ignited cards stand below the active band, the 7 October facilitation frame at 2.9, the woke-right frame at 2.4 and the plague-mRNA playbook at 2.0, and each is listed at W2 under the rule that lists a card at near ignition or ignited no lower than W2, with its computed score shown beside it unchanged.

One narrative sits at near ignition, on three markers and no cleared item. The doomer-op frame holds that status: Mike Cernovich moves from one witness at a New York City Council hearing on AI to “all of his fellow travelers” and lays on them support for “open borders and the destruction of the West”, and Jordan Schachtel recodes the safety camp’s thinking as a standing trait, “fact-free doomer spiritual paganism”. Fourteen narratives sit at warming and one is cold. The frame on the president’s diesel deal with Russia carries no marker: its carriers’ trait claims fall on the president alone, and nothing in its carrier set assigns a trait to a camp or casts a group of people in dehumanizing terms. The Green Party frame reads warming on two markers that recode the vote as a standing trait of the party: David Vance’s post that the party “has been duly captured by vile anti Semites” and Hen Mazzig’s post calling it “anti-Jewish”. Two cleared harm items mention the party and stay on the harm side, since their hostile content falls outside the card’s claim and its target: a Tommy Robinson post whose hostile content falls on Muslim people in Britain, and a Jayda Fransen reply whose hostile content falls on foreign-born men. Several markers were weighed, left uncredited and recorded on their cards, among them the calls to abolish ICE, read as an institutional end state that removes no group of people. Each marker instance is logged on the card that carries it with its own source and date, and clicking a marker opens that card.

The Michigan Senate race is the arena where each side carries a card and the harm instrument holds the president’s posts. President Trump’s posts of 6 and 7 October on Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee, the second of which calls him a “Terrorist Sympathizer” who “goes back to the days of the Jihad”, cleared our harm bar and are scored and reported in The Weather Report, as are Laura Loomer’s posts of 8 and 9 October on him and on Muslim people in public office, which confirm the association card’s status. On this instrument the race is two cards that mirror each other. The association frame, at 4.2 and W1, is the Republican nominee’s and the Republican Jewish Coalition’s reading of El-Sayed’s donors, his record and his family as proof that he is a danger to America and to Michigan’s Jewish community; the president’s posts set its ignition status and appear nowhere among its carriers. The faith frame, at 3.5 and W2, is the Democratic reading of the same attacks: Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Ro Khanna, the streamer Hasan Piker and El-Sayed read them as aimed at his religion, and the widest versions, Sanders’s and Piker’s, say Republicans oppose him because he is Muslim. Its narrow reading, that the leading attacks trade on his religion and his name, holds on independent reporting of the president’s posts and of Sen. John Kennedy’s remark, made beside the nominee, that El-Sayed “sleeps in a Bin Laden jersey”; its widest reading, that Republicans as a party oppose him for his faith, reaches no probative check. The pair reads as answered short of a lock.

Routing also ran in the other direction. Candidates that cleared the harm gates outside these handoffs were routed to The Weather Report, which publishes its own counts for this window, and none of them is carded here. Where a card’s carrier also appears in the harm corpus, the card says so. A cleared harm item is never a card’s carrier or below-bar example and never counts toward its charge priority score. A report of such a post can be evidence about an opposing attack, as on the faith card, whose narrow reading holds on independent reporting of the president’s posts.

Near ignition and ignited are review statuses. They escalate our checking cadence and record where an item was handed off to the other instrument, and they carry no verdict about anyone.

Asymmetries

The opposing camp answered on twenty-two cards, and two cards form a locked pair

Twenty-two of the 24 narratives drew a response we could find and two form a locked pair, and the two counts together account for every card. Each card’s note records the form an answer took, from a motive narrative of the opposing camp’s own to reporting or merits argument with no counter-imputation in it, and both ends appear this window. On El-Sayed’s race, on the Bronx shooting and on the anniversary of 7 October each side carried a motive narrative about the other, and those pairs are carded. The 7 October facilitation frame was answered by pro-Israel organizations and a British party leader with the record of Hamas’s attack, and the diesel-deal frame by the White House’s account of Zelensky and a House Republican’s defense of the deal; neither answer names the frame’s carriers. The Green Party frame drew two answers in the British arena, one on the outcry’s priorities and one on the merits: Craig Murray, a former British ambassador, wrote that the resolution drew “massively more outrage in the UK media and political class” than the killing of children in Gaza, and the party’s leader and senior members said there is “no conflict between supporting the rights of Palestinians and the rights of Jewish people”. Neither answer cites the frame’s carriers. The faux-concern frame on Mayor Mamdani, carried by the head of the Anti-Defamation League, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Hen Mazzig, AIPAC and the Republican Jewish Coalition, was answered on the merits: the mayor stood by his statement at his 8 October press conference, and Cenk Uygur read a complaint about the mayor’s visit to a Palestinian restaurant as racism on the critics’ part, so the two narratives cross-cite at commentator tier. The plague-mRNA playbook frame drew no answer to its staging claim that we could find. The Limitations section below sets out what bears on these counts.

Ten cards are right-origin, seven are left-origin and seven are cross-party or other

The camp label is derived from each card’s carrier set and is coarse, and the carrier-set paragraph on each card is the authoritative account of who carried a narrative.

Each card is classed from its origin camp as right-origin, left-origin, or cross-party or other, and the table above lists every classed card with the basis for its classing, so a reader can class any card differently and recount.

Ten of the 24 cards are right-origin, seven are left-origin and seven are cross-party or other, and every card carries a class this week. The right-origin cards are the El-Sayed association frame, the open-borders frame, the Department of Homeland Security’s sanctuary frame, the doomer-op frame, the China-psyop frame on opposition to data centers, the frame on the ratepayer vote, the Cornell frame carried by Matt Walsh and Jack Posobiec, the two-tier-state frame carried by Tommy Robinson and Rebel News, and the two cards of the fight inside the right, the America First frame on the neoconservative wing and the woke-right frame on the faction around Tucker Carlson; each of those two frames another faction of the right, so its origin and target sit on the same side. The left-origin cards are the faith frame on El-Sayed, the rogue-agency frame on ICE, the cover-up frame on the Iran war, the cruelty frame on the Fort Hood livestream, the frame on the diesel deal with Russia, the Israeli-moles frame on the embassy report, carried by Max Blumenthal and Jackson Hinkle, and the frame in which Rep. Ro Khanna and Cenk Uygur read Democrats as afraid of the genocide label, which presses their own party. The cross-party or other cards are the France Unbowed incitement frame, carried by France’s centrist government at official tier and the European Parliament’s conservative right; the faux-concern frame on Mayor Mamdani, carried by the head of the Anti-Defamation League, a bipartisan pro-Israel lobby, a Republican-aligned coalition and an Israeli official; the hate-mob frame on the Free Palestine movement, carried by pro-Israel advocates in the United States and Canada across the right and the liberal center; the false-flag frame on the Flydubai attack and the 7 October facilitation frame, both carried by antizionist commentators outside both US parties; the Green Party frame, carried by Israel’s foreign ministry and its president with a US radio host, a British commentator and an Israeli-American advocate, outside any one British party; and the plague-mRNA playbook frame, carried by health-freedom commentators outside either party. All five low-confidence verdicts fall on right-origin cards, as do three of the eight ignited cards and the one card at near ignition. Four ignited cards and the core-unsubstantiated verdict fall on cross-party or other cards, and the eighth ignited card is the left-origin Israeli-moles frame. Every left-origin card reads mixed, five of the seven read warming, and the diesel-deal frame reads cold. Where an opposing frame existed and we could not card it, the card says so.

Eight polarization narratives were scored in a different tier from last week, and three crossed into the harm instrument

Crossed into the harm instrument marks a continuing narrative whose card is ignited this week after its card last week was not. Every ignited card holds a handoff, an item that cleared the harm bar, and the crossing mark goes only to those not ignited last week. Eight cards are ignited this week. Three crossed, one of them on a lineage also ignited in earlier weeks. Three were ignited last week as well, and their handoffs this window continue that status. Two are carded for the first time this week, so they have no earlier cards to cross from.

3 narratives crossed into the harm instrument this week: each card is ignited, and its card last week was not. Their rows are marked in the table.

Each line is one narrative compared with itself a week earlier, joined on a key assigned when the narrative was first carded. Text similarity between the two weeks plays no part in the join. The two instruments are reported separately and never combined into a single direction, because they measure different things on different scales.

The instrument and its formula

Every item first runs through our harm methodology's gates. Items that clear them are reported in The Weather Report, under the routing rule stated in the ignition section above. Items that do not clear them run through a two-prong polarization gate: the commentary's primary object must be the motives or character of the camp being framed, which may be the carrier's own, with the event's merits set aside, and at least one of eight named polarizing operations must be present. Heat alone never codes, and documented, sourced motive claims never code. This instrument states whether an item cleared our harm bar and how a camp-versus-camp narrative scored. It makes no legal finding in any jurisdiction, and the countries on this board do not share one speech standard. The harm side’s six rungs, from biased framing through stigmatizing, hateful, threatening and glorifying violence to calling for violence, are each coded on a written definition.

Each narrative's base score is the five-factor geometric mean, CPS_base = (R·I·P·E·L)^(1/5): Reach, Intensity, Penetration, Elite adoption, and Lock, each anchored 1 to 5, combined by geometric mean so no single factor can dominate. The published charge priority score is that base times a trajectory multiplier where one is applied, capped at 5: CPS = min(5, CPS_base × τ). Three cards carry an applied multiplier in this window, and every other published score is its base score. The score is plotted on a 0 to 5 axis. Watch tiers: W1 at 4.0 and above, W2 at 3.0, W3 at 2.0, W4 below.

Scores are published to one decimal. Rounding puts some cards close to a tier cut, and the page says so where it happens: a score within 0.15 of a tier edge is marked at the boundary, and the mark names one factor, the value a one-step move would give it, and the score the card would then read. Three cards carry a boundary mark in this window, and on all three the step would carry the score across the edge; two of them, the 7 October facilitation frame and the plague-mRNA playbook, are ignited and stay listed at W2 either way, under the ignition rule. A boundary mark records how thin a tier placement is.

Coordination is a separate verdict on every card, and every card in this set reads no coordination identified. That verdict says what our record holds: no linkage between carriers beyond shared timing, no bridge account, no phrasing copied from one account to another, no named hub and no funder we could identify. A finding of overt coordination needs willing co-participants, so a card carried by a single account reads no coordination identified. We record independent origin only where positive evidence for it exists.

The ignition instrument runs beside the score. It never changes the five factors or the computed score. It can change where a card is listed: a card at near ignition or ignited is listed no lower than W2, shown with its computed score beside it, and in this window three cards are listed at W2 where their published scores sit under that band: the 7 October facilitation frame, the woke-right frame and the plague-mRNA playbook. Seven markers, each keyed to a construct our harm methodology already defines, produce a status: cold, warming, near ignition, or ignited. Ignited means an item actually cleared the harm bar and is reported there.

The trajectory multiplier is a corpus-share reading. Volume is a card’s matches per thousand collected posts in a window, and the change is this window’s rate against the prior window’s rate, so a share moves differently from the raw count behind it. The bands are set in advance and recorded as tunable: a change above the upper threshold reads accelerating and carries a multiplier above one, a change below the lower one reads decaying and carries a multiplier below one, and anything between reads stable and carries 1.0. The multiplier a card holds is shown on the card. A platform whose collected total moves by more than three fifths between the two windows is left out of the reading. A multiplier is applied where both windows clear the five-post minimum and the card is past its first appearance. Where that test is unmet the score stands on its five factors alone, and a reading that can still be computed is published beside the score as an unapplied diagnostic with its confidence marked. In this window three cards carry a multiplier, two at 1.3 reading accelerating and one at 0.6 reading decaying, each on nine comparable observation windows. The other 21 hold 1.0: eleven matched nothing in the earlier window and ten have fewer than five matching posts in one of the two, so none of them carries a reading.

The logic test states each frame's claim as a prediction-generating hypothesis and checks the predictions against what is observable, with sources. The predictions are our own operationalizations of the frame, and reasonable readers may formulate different checks; where a frame supports both a narrow and a strong reading, we test both and say which one a check touches. Every prediction is shown with its own result in the drill. The verdict scale carries five values: supported by our checks, mixed evidence, contradicted by our checks, core unsubstantiated by our checks, and not testable from available evidence. A card reads supported where the imputed motive survives the checks we ran. It reads mixed where at least one probative check on its narrow reading came back true or mixed on independent evidence; three things add no such support, a narrow reading we did not test or could not resolve, material produced by the frame's own carrier unless its underlying evidence was separately verified, and political adoption of the claim such as a resolution, a vote or an endorsement. Where no narrow reading holds, the next two verdicts turn on the claim's core proposition, the load-bearing thing the frame asserts, which on these cards is usually a motive or a standing trait imputed to a camp. A card reads contradicted by our checks where a probative check reached that core proposition and failed against what is observable, and no probative check on the core or the narrow reading came back true or mixed. A card reads core unsubstantiated by our checks where no probative check reaches that core proposition in either direction, so our record neither carries the claim nor tells against it and a reader learns what we looked for and did not find. A check marked context only records a fact that cannot tell the claim's readings apart; it carries no weight in the verdict, and the drill shows it as ‘context only, carries no weight’. A check whose observation would hold in ordinary politics whatever the truth of the claim, such as a party funding its own nominee or a party's senators objecting to a proposal on fiscal grounds, is marked the same way. A check on a narrow reading is judged against that reading as the card states it, and the same fact carries the same weight on both cards of a pair. A mixed verdict on a compound claim substantiates none of its clauses on its own. Verdicts report how each frame's predictions fared against what is observable, as we operationalized them; they leave the underlying policy question open, and a camp's broader concern can remain entirely legitimate while its narrative's checks come back contradicted.

Every quote is checked against its live source, or against the outlet that carried it, when it is carded, and a second reviewer checks each card’s readings, verdict, numbers and harm interlock. Items that do not meet that standard are excluded before scoring. The collection behind this window holds 15,800 posts dated inside it, 7,850 on X, 5,821 on Bluesky and 2,129 on 4chan, where a 4chan row is a thread’s opening post, alongside 329 news rows. Candidates drop out for several reasons, and the polarization gate is only one of them: no codable text, no readable source, an object the identification bar puts out of reach, or a primary object that is the event’s merits with no camp’s motives in view. Every item is also checked against the harm methodology’s gates before it can be carded here; candidates that clear them are routed to that instrument and carded nowhere here, and the ignition section above records where that happened in this window. Clustering requires a shared canonical claim about the same trigger event on the same fault line, and a card requires either two independent carriers or a single carrier at official or major-outlet tier. Research lanes are collection beats; fault lines are the terrain the narratives land on. We ran the same queries for both camps in every lane, and we searched for a mirror before any card recorded one as unanswered. Private individuals are described by role and never named, whether or not the press names them. Two kinds of person are public actors for this purpose and are named: a person charged or convicted in a widely reported court case, and an activist who acts in public under their own name or a chosen one. Research and drafting run through Claude under this methodology; every published classification passes the documented verification chain, and Jerm holds final editorial responsibility.

The roster and this week’s collection

This week's collection reached part of the 1,034-account roster

The roster is the frame we track, and the collection combines the handles on our lists, the two boards, a Bluesky network search and a news table. Every number here is computed from the roster file, the handle lists and the collection database for the window of 2026-10-05 to 2026-10-11.

The roster holds 1,034 accounts across 23 categories, and 136 of them sit in more than one category, so the category column below counts more accounts than the roster holds. Handles collected counts the handles that stored a post by the collection that closed the record on 12 October, in both tables, and handles that returned a post counts those with a post dated in the window. A handle can return a post dated in the window that was stored after the record closed, so returned can exceed collected. A handle the collector read that returned nothing leaves no row. The Bluesky collector also runs a network search beyond the handles we track, so its collected count exceeds its list; the X collector reads only the handles listed.

The record runs from Monday 5 October to Sunday 11 October, with the latest post stamped 23:59 UTC on Sunday 11 October, and our collection for it closed on Monday 12 October. Anything posted, reported or answered after that is outside the record, whichever way it would have cut. Our X record joins two collections: the nightly pull list, which the collector rebuilds each night from a fixed core of handles and the roster handles named in the past seven days of our news table, and a walk of the roster on 12 October that read every roster handle the pull list had not read, back to 5 October. Of the 152 roster X handles, 135 carried posts dated inside the window and 17 carry no in-window post in our record, so a camp that leans on those 17 accounts may read thinner on X where their posts were missed, and a low count for a camp’s carriage, an unanswered mirror or a single-carrier reading may partly reflect what our roster and platforms reach. The nightly X pulls of 5 and 6 October were skipped, and the walk read those days. Posts of those two days from handles on the pull list come from later pulls that read back through each handle’s timeline, so a post deleted before then is missing, and the engagement counts on those posts were captured a day or more after they went up, and on the posts the walk collected, up to a week after. Bluesky and the boards ran thin on 9 and 10 October, around a late collection, so a narrative that moved mainly on those platforms on those days may read smaller here than it was. One handle, CNBC, reached the page cap of 200 posts on one pull, so its count is a floor on captured posts; it carries no card on this page. Replies and reposts sit largely outside the collection, and on X they are left out at collection, so an answer made in a reply thread is mostly invisible to us. The event scan ran at about 03:00 UTC on 11 October and records no event dated after 8 October, so a trigger dated 9 to 11 October appears here only where a card’s own sources carry it. Outside these platforms, surfaces we cannot systematically see, including several large closed platforms, are underrepresented, and a narrative living mainly on them would read here as smaller than it is.

Private individuals are never named, whether or not the press names them, and are described by role where a card needs them at all; the two kinds of public actor named in the method note are the exception. A reader cannot follow every thread on these cards back to a person as a result. Where a first-party post was not retrievable, quotes are cited to the outlet that carried them.

Penetration is scored from carrier-set breadth as a stated judgment; no within-camp sample was drawn, so every penetration score is an unvalidated qualitative estimate, and with no defined denominator behind it the true spread within a camp could sit above it or below it. Reach is scored on qualitative anchors, and platform-reported view counts, where shown, are capture-time counters that do not count unique readers and are no lower bound on audience.

Three cards carry a trajectory multiplier in this window, and the other 21 scores stand on their five factors alone and say nothing about how a narrative’s volume moved between the two windows. The five-post minimum behind that is a chosen threshold below which a count is treated as noise, a standing rule under review that has not been validated, recorded as tunable with a date. A share of one week’s corpus set against a share of another measures the collection as well as the discourse, in a proportion we cannot state. Every volume reading this week uses X, Bluesky and the boards together, and the X record of each of the two windows includes a walk of the roster.

The published product carries a selection bias of its own, the one section 15 of our methodology sets out. Not-testable verdicts are expected to be common, W4 narratives are logged and go unwritten, and false positives are the first-class error we optimize against, so these reports over-represent charged narratives that happened to generate falsifiable predictions. That effect lives in the publication layer, apart from any collection or platform effect.

Camp attribution has no ground truth. Origin camp is coded from the carrier set’s observable alignment, and heterodox voices and single-issue coalitions resist clean attribution; the seven cross-party or other cards this week are cases of it. The origin-side split above can be read only so far. Our monitored roster is weighted toward right-of-center accounts on X, and an engagement threshold sits under every lane, so the card set’s balance by side reflects what we read before any check is run, and a side with more cards has more chances at every verdict and every status. The split covers the cards we scored.

The harm side’s rungs, named on the ignited cards above, have been coded on the written definitions our methodology adopted on 3 October 2026, so a rung named here is comparable only with rungs coded on those definitions.

Escalation markers in this window are recorded as marker instances, each with its own source URL and date on the card that carries it. The status a set of markers produces is still a judgment under the marker rules, and clicking a marker opens the card so the judgment can be read against its evidence.

The charge priority score orders our own review queue. Its reach, penetration, and elite-adoption factors move together in practice, since a narrative carried by elites tends to score up on all three, so nearby scores should be read as a tier. Scores are displayed to one decimal, because five whole-number judgments combined by geometric mean support no finer reading than that; a gap of a tenth or two is inside the noise of those five factors, and cards inside a tier are listed by score for reference, with no ranking drawn from a gap that small. Rounding can place a card either side of a tier cut, so a score within 0.15 of a tier edge carries a boundary mark naming one factor and the score a one-step move in it would give, and three cards carry that mark in this window. The factor anchors, the marker list and the tier cutoffs in this instrument are conventions we are still calibrating, and every one of them is recorded as tunable with a date attached, so a later change to any of them stays visible against this window.
